SP 2140 Practicing the Prayer of the Heart (intensive course) 3 credits

 

Throughout the history of the Church there have been profound spiritual masters and traditions that transmitted to us the “Prayer of the Heart” also called “Mental Prayer”, “Prayer of Jesus” or “Silent Prayer”.

 

This course will review some of the more significant traditions, focusing especially on the practical aspect.

 

It is the intention of this course to explain the inner movement of the Prayer of the Heart, to understand its conditions, and to see its applications in our daily Christian life.

 

It will help us understand and discern the richness, the efficiency and the specificity of the Christian Tradition in a world which has great thirst for “meditation”.

 

Saint Theresa of Avila will often be our guide.
